Many members joined a film screening and community discussion of the critically acclaimed Indigenous food documentary Gather.
Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide. After the film screening, Indigenous LA activists Claudia Serrato of Across Our Kitchen Tables and Annie Mendoza, a Tongva scholar at UCLA, joined for a discussion about food sovereignty and how we can support and promote Indigenous food culture in the Los Angeles region.
